(Excerpts taken from Curt Landry’s book: Reclaiming Our Forgotten Heritage | How Understanding the Jewish Roots of Christianity Can Transform Your Faith)
You wake up each morning, fill your empty mug with coffee, and sit down with the Word of God for your personal devotional time. You’re tired. You want the coffee to kick in so you can get the most out of your quiet time. You pray and meditate on passages such as Jeremiah 29:11 for encouragement…
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Do you want the Spirit of God to energize and renew you like your morning cup of coffee does?
Are you longing for more of God’s presence in your life?
- More joy?
- More peace?
- More faith?
Your mind knows God’s plans for you are good, but the passion in your spirit seems lacking. Your tired soul is weighed down by doubt. You feel as though your faith has hit the ceiling. The mundane aspects of life—marriage, kids, work, service—are missing the spark they once had.
Yes, your faith is strong. Yes, you know the blood of Jesus saves you. Yes, there are times you are so close to the Lord that you feel His presence.
But there are times when He seems far away. There are times when you know you need to grow your faith, yet you aren’t sure how or where to start.
Sid Roth, Host of “It’s Supernatural,” says…
“Is it possible to take the New Testament and denude the Jewish culture and get a full revelation? Of course not. But many Christians go their whole lives without all the pieces of the puzzle. My friend, Curt Landry, shows how the identity theft took place and fills in the missing pieces. Fall in love with Jesus all over again.”
Do you want to know the depth of your spiritual heritage and bring to life the fullness of your salvation, which has been imparted to you through Christ?
In Ephesians 3, Paul speaks about the “mystery” that is revealed… Have you ever thought about what “mystery” he is referring to?
Contrary to the Western notion of “mystery,” what Paul is referring to here, in Greek, is the word mysterion. This word carries the meaning of the fullness of God’s revelation and knowledge that was once hidden but now open.
God’s Plan | The Mystery of the Church Is Revealed
Paul goes on to reveal the good news and mystery to the Gentiles…
“…which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel…”—Ephesians 3:5-6 (emphasis added)
Did you catch that… you are a fellow heir!! But who are you with in the same body? What Paul is saying is that God’s plan is for Jews and Gentiles to come together, as one in Christ—this is the Church.
You might be asking, “Why Jew and Gentile? I thought the Church was made up of Gentiles?” Paul gives the foundation of God’s plan in the previous chapter.
- “…that at that time you (Gentiles) were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.”—Ephesians 2:12 (emphasis added)
- “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one… so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross…”—Ephesians 2:14, 15-16 (emphasis added)
Gentile Believers are grafted into the commonwealth of Israel. This does not mean the Gentile Church has replaced Israel. It says we can rejoice in the fact that, because of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who set apart Israel as His chosen people, which we have been grafted into—we now have a spiritual heritage that is abundant!
It Is Time to Reclaim Your Heritage!
What does it mean to reclaim your heritage? It means that when you begin to dig into the Jewish roots of your Christian faith, and you grow in your relationship with your Jewish Savior—Jesus Christ (or Yeshua in Hebrew)—your faith is transformed!
The covenant promises, mentioned in Ephesians 2, are far too often overlooked in the Church. We’ve become comfortable with mundane faith. But for some of you, you are ready to start digging. You are ready to step into the fullness of your salvation and reclaim every promise God has made to you.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.—Joshua 1:8 (emphasis added)
Through many trials and tribulations in his life, Curt Landry has discovered through the Jewish roots of his faith that he can rightfully lay claim to the promises of the Lord.
It has transformed…
- His life
- His marriage
- His family
- His Kingdom work
And this inherited claim has led him into a prosperous and successful life. Now understand, this is not about legalism nor is it about “doing” something to “get” something from God. God’s Word says it’s already yours!
…according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.—Ephesians 3:11-12
You simply need to know how to access it!

“Curt Landry’s Reclaiming Our Forgotten Heritage serves as a timely and groundbreaking take on the roots of the Christian Church and its place in the entirety of God’s Kingdom. As Landry uncovers and unwraps the discovery of his own Jewish heritage and history, he also seeks to do the same for the body of Christ. This book attempts to answer the questions ‘Who are we?’ and ‘Why are we here?’ from the perspective of the whole body of believers. If we ignore some of the full story, we are missing some part of our identity—and in identity, there is power, there is purpose, and there is covenant.
Reclaiming Our Forgotten Heritage provides a valuable and unique take on this situation. As the body of Christ begins to reconnect with the olive tree onto which it has been grafted and as the fulfillment of Revelation draws nearer, there is no better time than now to learn about and become firmly grounded within your spiritual heritage.”
How Did the Church Get Cut Off from Its Jewish Roots?
In Reclaiming Our Forgotten Heritage, Curt Landry explains how, over time, the Church has been cut off from her Jewish roots. As a result, the Bride of Christ has lost her power and authority on earth.
When Jesus came, everything He said was in context of Jewish culture, Jewish traditions, and the Jewish belief system. Yes, He took things up a significant notch—you only have to read the Sermon on the Mount to see that— but the foundation was still Jewish. So, when we interpret His words through a Western philosophical lens, we change the meaning of much of what He said. We end up with a diluted or warped understanding of His Words, and while the meanings haven’t been so lost that His Words and actions fail to save, the change is significant enough that we often fail to be who He’s called us to be on the earth. Losing the fullness and context of Jesus’ words, we’ve lost much of the authority they were meant to confer on us.—Curt Landry, Reclaiming Our Forgotten Heritage
